If You Gave Kurt a Cookie

There's a new phenomenon in our house lately.

Cookies.

Made with honey (or agave) and with the wonderful cousin Miriam around, we have made lots and lots of them. So many in fact, that every time Kurt sees the Bosch, he immediately shouts, "Make Cookies?! TWO cookies?!" He gets up on the counter with whoever is baking and (as Miriam taught him) dutifully folds his arms any time the machine is turned on. Tonight, I caught him single-handedly going through the steps all on his own.

That's when I realized "If You Gave Kurt a Cookie"...

If you gave Kurt a cookie,
then you'd have to give him oven mitts to keep his hands safe.
If you gave Kurt oven mits to keep his hands safe,
then he'd have a hard time working the Bosch.

If Kurt had a hard time working the Bosch,
he'd simply use the oven mitts as if they were his hands. If Kurt used the oven mitts as if they were his hands,
he'd have to try opening all of the kitchen drawers.
If Kurt had to try opening all of the kitchen drawers,
then he'd have to try opening the (cold) oven.
If Kurt had to try opening the cold oven,
then he'd get a stern warning from his Mama to not touch the oven whether it was cold or not.

If Kurt got a stern warning from his Mama,
then he'd resort to working again on his "cookies"
If Kurt was working again on his "cookies",
then Mom would have to ask, "What kind of cookies did you make?"

If Mom asked, "What kind of cookies did you make?",
then Kurt would have to answer, "Two Cookies. Star Cookies".
And if that was Kurt's answer, you'd have to realize,
like his Mom has, that he's one special, smart little man.
Love you, My Boy.
