For months now, all Vance has talked about, thought about, and wished for is a Nunja Turtle Party. Planning his food was easy- green drinks, green cupcakes, and of course- pizza! He has a great group of neighborhood friends that he invited over. My great friend Shanan once again made amazing cookies (each turtle plus a pizza slice!) and Vance was over the moon excited to give each of his party guests a bag of cookies.
Once I knew we were going for TWO parties instead of one, it was easy to hand over the boys’ activities to Dad. He and the boys put together an amazing obstacle course for all of the boys that came. It included a tunnel, a balance beam, ropes, the zip line and the rock wall. It was EPIC!
When the boys came over, they donned their ninja turtle masks and went out as Dad helped them make their own pair of nunchucks with PVC pipe and chains. They of course used their newly made nunchucks on the obstacle course to fight Shredder, Bebop and RockSteady. It was so much fun to watch and listen to them as they completed the course. They took their roles of fighting ninja turtles VERY seriously! They enjoyed the course so much, most of them went back and did it a second time.
Later, as he opened his gifts, it made my heart smile as I watched all of these rowdy boys interact and hug each other. They made the day so fun for him.

Ava knew exactly what she wanted for her birthday and even helped me plan every detail down to the the pink cupcakes. We had fun together setting up the table. She loved that everything on there was either pink or gold, and that some things were sparkly.
We cut the pink and gold ribbon and she helped dad put the eyelet screws on the dowel sticks so that every girl who came could make a dancing wand at the party. I love that she’s getting older and is my little party planner. I look forward to many more parties to plan with her by my side!
Her birthday party was so much fun! She unfortunately had a few girls who couldn’t make it at the last minute, but those who did come had a blast. Besides the dancing wands the girls made, I also asked our wonderful neighbors, Autumn and Abby Larabee (who are prolific dancers) to come and teach us some ballet during the party.
The girls were fascinated by their tutus and tiaras. They were treated like royalty! As they preformed a scene from The Nutcracker, the little ones were in awe. Afterwards they taught the girls a few ballet moves. Ava was so happy and definitely in her element.
After that, the girls played with bubbles, ate pink cupcakes and watched Ava open her presents. It makes my heart so happy to see her smile and have fun with her friends. It’s my birthday wish for her this year and many years to come.
