How can this be? These two turn 9 this year! Their birthday fell on a Sunday so our traditional picture in front of the door gets to be extra formal. Aren't they so grown up and beautiful? Yes, they look like preteens in this photo, but all I see is their little toddler faces from the last time (6 years ago) when their birthday fell on a Sunday.....
I mean- can you even!?!?! I remember finding these little birthday buttons in the store and them squealing with delight at the chance to wear them to church. I wonder if I could convince them to wear them to class now. Probably not a great chance of that happening.
This year they decided they wanted to ask a friend to go for a fun outing in lieu of a big birthday party. Vance chose his best friend, Levi and together they went to the arcade, bumper cars, and Chick-Fil-A. As you can see, they didn't have any fun!
These two have been friends since their nursery days. They live right around the corner from each other and spend every day after school together.
Ava chose to go to the mall and have lunch with her best friend, Isla but the night before her birthday she turned up horribly, awfully, tearfully sick.
She slept fitfully through her birthday and even her littlest brother took great care to make sure she was taken care of. He helped lather her feet with Vics and carefully put her socks on her sad, tired feet.
And after a good week of rest and care, she finally got to spend her happy day with her best friend. They spent an hour at Claires and the mall and then out to lunch. The thoughts of her sick birthday long behind her.
Happy birthday, my beauties! We sure love you and are so glad you're going through this life with us.
Now STOP GROWING UP!
