Well, while living in the desert does have it's perks, there are a few things we miss out on. Snow is definitely one of them. So it was no surprise that the kids would have fun playing in the big white fluffy stuff. What was a surprise however, was how each one reacted so differently to it.
Kurt of course was in awe. He knew it was cold and only handled it when he had to. To see him walk in his big snow boots and pants made me think of how I must look when I walk onto our gravel without my shoes: slow and steady. He marveled at how white everything was and loved that it was all "super shiny!"
Sis? Well, she just ate the snow. And ate and ate. Really she didn't
do much but eat it. While in Northern Utah once we showed her a pile of
fresh clean snow and Dad showed her that you could eat it. That was
all it took. Now she's filling up on snow and I wonder if she'll even
be hungry for dinner.
Bubby...Poor, poor Bubby. The one time we received a little bit of snow in St. George and went outside to play, he immediately face planted. He's young enough that he doesn't understand that when something hurts you have to move your hand away. By the time I got over to him, his poor little hands were so cold and his snow experience was finished. He must have had post traumatic stress from it because the minute he touched the snow again here, he was done. He didn't have gloves at first and cried the entire time. Luckily Auntie Kale saved the day (like she does often) and pulled them around on the sled for a bit and it seemed to calm everyone down.
The second day in the snow was much better.
Kurt and Dad built a snowman,
And Sissy ate snow.
Bubba tried his hands at the slide and swings and was so happy to finally have gloves,
And Sissy ate more snow.
Bubba found a little friend.
And Dad took them all sledding on the hill in front of the house.
They loved it! Though, it was far scarier for me than I'm sure it was for them.
"Again Dad! Let's do it again!"
We finally called it quits, but not before Chase got a good work out!
It may not be winter, and it may be over before they're through with it, but this
