We have been having such a great time at Grandma and Grandpa’s house here in Pennsylvania! This little guy has learned to open the doors. The pantry door is his particular favorite.
Grandpa has been the best substitute teacher in the world! The other day the kids asked if he could teach them how to make a paper snowflake. A huge mess and a few Youtube videos later, the kids started calling it “Snowflake School” because it felt like they were in school and Grandpa was the teacher. They taped the finished products all over the downstairs window to surprise Grandma when she came down the stairs that morning. Good job Grandpa! It isn’t easy teaching 5 kids how to do anything!
We’ve also had a great time just relaxing and being together.

Swinging on Grandma’s yard when the weather is nice,
and even mushrooming with Dad. One afternoon Dad took all of the big kids (6 in total!) out to the woods to find mushrooms. Besides the mushrooms, they found a nice deer shed that Phi and Kurt found (which Dad is turning into knives for them) and genuinely had a good time. They were frozen little popsicles when they got back, but they had fun!
As far as school went, we had our regular math and reading in the morning and then had a fun science or two during the afternoon with Phi and Freyja. Since we were out in the cold, we thought it would be fitting to have a few science lessons involving snow. We tried making our own snow,
did experiments on melting rates,
and made guesses on how much snow is actually in the jars.
