This time Shay's family ventured along with us and what fun we had!
Before we arrived, Dad had told the kids that we were going into a "Magical Forest", one where you began to shrink the moment you entered in. On pins and needles, the kids waited and wondered.
Finally one of the kids exclaimed, "Dad! I know why it's magic- it's because everything is so HUGE that we all feel tiny like ants!" Kurt said, "I knew you were tricking us!" The trees were so big the pictures didn't even do them justice. It was something you have to see to really believe!
Our group received a lot of stares from people who couldn't decide how many kids we actually had between us.
And it didn't help that this animal was constantly running under the guard rails and hiding in the trunks of the huge trees!
Of course we couldn't leave the park without visiting with Old Mr. General Sherman!
The kids loved reading all of the interesting facts about the trees and I loved that they were learning without my facilitating and without books! THIS is life long learning and we're so lucky to get to do it together as a family!
