This year right before Rabbitstick, we decided to head up to Yellowstone National Park and show the kids the geysers there. We had such a great time! Even though the kids said the sulphur pools smelled worse than “Dad’s toots” and said “Bye Son!” to all of the hundreds of buffalo that we saw.
We learned a lot from our Ranger and each of the kids even earned a wolf pin from answering questions about what they learned. We loved the little children’s museum there and the presentation video. When we saw Old Faithful erupt, Kurt shouted, “Now THAT’S what I call a geyser!!”
This year we also tried going to Bear World for the first time and now we know we need to make this a Rabbitstick tradition! We went with Ava’s friend Aspen and her mom. We rode the rides, watched the baby bears and even had a homemade fudge tasting!
There was a petting zoo at Bear World and it was worth every penny! As you can see- the kids got to feed the animals and the animals in turn thought the kids were pretty tasty too. Everyone loved getting up close and personal with the deer, the chickens and peacock and even a large, overweight pig.
For a few of the kids it took some time to warm up to the animals, but when they did they didn’t want to stop.
For these little wild kids, it was a fun day being so up close and personal with other critter friends. We will definitely be back again next year!
