Today is going in my book as one where Snow and I put aside our differences and actually worked together for the common good of the kids. As you can see, once we arrived, Snow decided to greet us with his usual hello and dumped on us a few feet of snow. The kids begged and begged to go sledding down the big hill by Grandpa’s house,
What fun we had! There was so much fresh snow and though it was hard to walk in, it sure was fun to slide down on! At first the kids were a bit timid on the sleds. Then, out of the blue, Uncle Dax surprised them by jumping on the sled as it was going and riding down the hill like he was surfing.
That was it! Vance knew right away he could go down that hill no other way. He tried it once- and fell. Tried it again- and got further and fell again. Then Kurt tried it. He stood up for about 3 seconds and then Vance tried it again, this time riding the hill from tip to the bottom on both feet.
I was so proud of those kiddos! Everyone who tried it fell at least once, and everyone who tried it got up at least once. It was exciting and refreshing. I love watching them tackle something that is hard and not give up until they see results.
As you can see, once again not everyone was super pumped about it (he wanted to ride more and share less) but he changed his tune when his brothers and cousins sat in with him and rode down the hill. It was a hard trek back up, but he did it a few times.
So thank you, Snow for the memories we made today.
They were cold, but sweet and it even makes me dislike you just a little bit less!
And after all that sledding, there was only one minor casualty. I say that's success!
