How did we get to Christmas Eve already? I swear it was just summer! Tonight Mema came up to spend the night and we go right into our tradition of new pjs and (my personal favorite), new books.
After all of the pajamas were opened, the kids dove right into the books. It is one of my most favorite things to watch as we go from youngest to oldest and everyone has to crowd around to see just what books each person receives. Just like on Back to School Night, I take great care to find the perfect book to fit each and every personality.
I love looking back years later and seeing how well loved those books get (especially that year). And just like on Back to school night, we leave an inscription in the front to each child telling them why that book has special meaning this year. It's one of my most favorite traditions!
Once the books have been opened, we go around and read (and re-read) each one’s books before we read Luke 2 and settle in for the night. The kids are all tucked in for a not-so-long winter’s nap as we all await this very special day tomorrow. Merry Christmas Eve!
